Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 cup yellow onions, chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté onions until translucent. Add diced carrots and cook until tender.
  3. Stir in ground meat, breaking it apart until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper; simmer until thickened.
  5. While the meat simmers, boil peeled potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter and cream until smooth.
  6. Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes; smooth evenly. Optionally sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
