- 15 oz ricotta cheese (whole-milk for creaminess)
- 16 oz fresh mozzarella cheese (sliced or shredded)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 lb ground beef or sausage (optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves (chopped)
- 1 large egg
- 1 can (28 oz) whole tomatoes
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add chopped onion, and sauté until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
