  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar or Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water and melted butter over medium heat until boiling. Stir in salt and flour until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl; let cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  4. Fold in the grated cheese until evenly combined.
  5. Using a spoon or piping bag, drop small mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet with space between each.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed up. Enjoy warm or allow them to cool slightly.
