Description

Bacon Cheddar Bagels are a breakfast dream come true! Imagine warm, chewy bagels infused with crispy bacon and rich cheddar cheese, making your mornings unforgettable. This easy-to-follow recipe guarantees delightful results, whether you’re impressing guests at brunch or indulging in a cozy snack. With simple ingredients and straightforward steps, you’ll be savoring these golden bagels in no time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (100°F to 110°F)
  • 8 oz thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Egg wash (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Gradually add flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (approximately 1 hour).
  4. Punch down the risen dough, divide into equal pieces, and roll each into a ball. Poke a hole through each ball to shape.
  5. Boil the bagels in a large pot of boiling water for 1-2 minutes on each side for that chewy texture.
  6. Place boiled bagels on a parchment-lined baking sheet; top with crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar.
  7. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
